If you have Capital One Venture miles sitting in your account, here’s the short version: transferring them to an airline partner will usually get you more travel than reimbursing yourself will, and it’s no longer an advanced move. You can still use the “reimburse yourself” feature any time you want simplicity, and I do it often. But the transfer side of this program has quietly become one of the best in the business, and it deserves a real look.
Capital One Venture miles have been known widely for their “reimburse yourself” feature. Pay for travel with the card, then wipe out the charge with miles. Simple, no award charts, no phone calls. Check the cash price, check the award price, and pick the cheaper one.
Transfers shine on the expensive stuff: long-haul flights, premium cabins, peak-season dates, and last-minute fares. That’s where 1 cent per mile stops being enough.
