However, it takes 2 seconds to check, and it’s definitely worth a try if you have any of these rewards programs and plan to make purchases today. If you are not eligible, there’s a chance a spouse or friend could be.
Amazon frequently runs these types of deals. They’re a great way to save on purchases if you’re targeted. The targeting is often on two levels – the first is whether or not you get an offer in the first place, then there’s often a second level of targeting as to what type of offer you get. Maximum dollar amounts can vary –it’s worth taking a second to see if you’re targeted.
There are a few important things to be aware of with these types of deal.
- For starters, only redeem 1 point as redeeming more than that offers poor redemption value for your points.
- You also have to ensure that the items you want to buy are sold and shipped by Amazon. That requirement can sometimes be a little bit of a pain as many items listed on Amazon are shipped by them but sold by a third party seller.
- Make sure you do not enable your points to be used automatically when making payments. You do not want to pay with points beyond using 1 point for these promos.

In Summary
The reason most of these offers are so good is because you literally only have to use 1 point to get the deal. That’s what I recommend doing: Only use 1 point. You can redeem your points for travel at a much better value, but see if you’re eligible and get a great discount for using 1 point!
I turn the “Apply by default” to OFF so Amazon doesn’t charge me with points when I don’t want to use them.
